Earth Hour at Sydney Observatory

Join us at the historic Sydney Observatory to get an unrivaled view of the night sky as the city switches its lights off for Earth Hour 2019. Discover this inspiring global initiative and enjoy an evening of community, astronomy and climate action. We will switch off the lights for an hour at 8:30pm, as we join with millions of others around the country showing support for climate change action.

In celebration of the 2019 Earth Hour theme, #Connect2Earth, enjoy an evening of

talks from environmental experts and hands-on activities for the family. Our astronomers will guide you through the wonders of the night sky with telescope viewings* and stargazing in the courtyard.

*This program is held regardless of the weather. If viewing the stars through the telescopes is not possible due to sky conditions, additional activities will be arranged. Tickets are non-refundable.

Being an astronomer, it was a great chance offered to me to observe Earth Hour in the and to meet expert astronomers. I will never forget what I achieved by attending such precious event. It was due to you that I knew about this event.
